Back from Nepal and straight into the thick of life again.  Wendy has agreed to coach me for the BC Bike race in July and I have surprisingly managed to get in every session she's laid out for me.  The only exception is missing my swim yesterday due to the burns on my wrist that are still healing (dork).  We're starting slow (thankfully!) and ironically the part that I've enjoyed the most so far has been the running.  Andy, Storm and I have been doing short run/walks (0:45/4:15) on the chip trails near Andy's office at lunch and it's proving to be a fabulous way to force me out of the office and a nice way to spend time together.  Storm's arthritic joints are enjoying the easy run/walk combo as much as my painfully tight IT bands.

Another really enjoyable training task was getting out on mt bikes with Natasha.  Nothing strenuous but fun to watch her on a mt bike.  I never wanted to be one of "those parents" who pushed their kids into a sport that they used to do well.  When I got pregnant with Natasha I was racing mt bikes and although I haven't returned to racing (until now!) I've continued to ride.  Until last year she never expressed an interest, and I never pushed.  Having said that, now that she's interested I'm jumping all over the opportunity.

Today is a bit of a mental challenge; heading into town to get in 1.5-2hrs of riding the "tour de parks" - an easy re-introduction to my bike on the chips trails of various parks around town.  It snowed a few days ago and although the deluge of west coast rain has likely washed most of it away on the roads, am thinking that there will be some in the trees.  Must dig out a warm headband to wear under my helmet.  A bonus of heading into town on what should be a cozy-reading-on-my-couch day is meeting up with a friend for coffee and an easy climbing session.  Must find motivation where I can.

Right now I've been doing most of my workouts with company - Andy, Natasha and Storm. Trekking uphill in the Himalayas made me remember how meditative doing something repetitive and at a deliberate pace can be.  Hoping to infuse my riding/running/swimming with that.

Tomorrow we're off to Mount Washington to dust off the XC skis!
