new things to lower stress

You know, just the other day I was saying to a friend that I needed to get out of my current routine and try new things, meet some new people. This weekend was the perfect answer to that.

After my daughter's climbing competition I went to Valhallah and bought the supplies to build a slackline. We've been talking about it for ages and we have the perfect two trees at the side of the house. Set it up and emailed a friend to ask if she wanted to see it.
While at our local (floating) pub picking up a bottle of wine for us she met up with a bunch of other islanders so a whole posse turned up to play. Over the course of the evening others joined us, candles were brought out, guitars were played and it was alllllll riiiiight.

This morning as I was laying in bed when a buddy banged on the door and got me out of bed. Half an hour later I was on my way to the dock and we were headed into town for breakfast. Met up with some guys who used to be fixtures on our little island (still are really), played a little pool (badly) and headed back to the harbour. On our way through downtown a friend of a friend waved us up to his apt and we headed up to the roof of the building for an impromptu jam session. So warm up there!

Next stop was puttering around the harbour and the adjacent island enjoying the sunshine and being a little in awe of the beauty of where we live. Stopped off at one of the beaches only accessible by boat, explored in our bare feet a bit then lay on the warm rocks.

Dinner at our local, a visit to a friend's house and bingo, I'm home. Still tons of dishes in the sink and the floor is still a mess but I feel as though I've broken out of my rut so it was worth it. Didn't stress about getting things done and not a shred of heartburn all day today. The solution is so simple really....
